Memorand’m It is agreed BetweenMatthew Liddon of Axminster in the County of Devon Tanner, One of the churchwardens of that Parish and Joseph Elford of the same parish Clockmaker as followeth

In P’mis. The said Joseph Elford doth promise & agree to make or Cause to be made a New Clock, Quarter Clock & Chimes to be by him plais’d in the Tower of the Said Parish Church of Axminster on or before Our Lady Day next, and Alsoe to make a new hand to the Dyal and to make the Chimes to go to the Tune of the One Hundred and Fiftyeth Psalm & Britons Strike Home six times round

every time it goes which Chimes are to play every four houres

Itm the said Joseph Elford Agrees to repair and keep the said Clock in good order for the space of ten yeares for five shillings p’ annum

Itm the said Matthew Lidden doth hereby promise & agree to pay unto the said Jospeh Elford when such Clock & Chimes shall be soe made and put in the Said Tower as aforesaid the sume of two and Twenty pounds.
